Later this month Captain Minnie Mouse will debut on Disney Cruise Line sailings. Captain Mickey Mouse has been a long time favorite among Disney Cruise Line guests, but the role of captain will now be shared with Minnie Mouse on all four Disney Cruise Line ships. Disney hopes the addition of Captain Minnie Mouse will be a way of encouraging “young girls around the world to consider a career in the maritime industry.”
Captain Minnie Mouse will be wearing her brand-new captain’s hat in addition to a red jacket and white trouser uniform.
New youth activities will soon feature Captain Minnie Mouse as she helps young sailors with their science, technology, engineering and math skills in Disney’s Oceaneer Lab. These new activities featuring Captain Minnie Mouse are expected to available later this year. In addition to her appearances in Disney’s Oceaneer Lab, Captain Minnie Mouse will also be visiting Disney Cruise Line’s homeports and ports of call. Captain Minnie Mouse alongside a female Disney Cruise Line officer or crew member will be showcasing “their roles in the maritime industry” as a way to “raise awareness about career choices for women aboard a cruise ship.”
Of course, Disney will also feature Captain Minnie Mouse merchandise this summer. The new “nautical-themed collection of apparel and gifts tout the tagline, ‘You Can Call Me Captain.’” There will also be a new PANDORA Jewelry charm inspired by Captain Minnie Mouse, which will be exclusive to Disney Cruise Line sailings.
Lastly, girls visiting the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on Disney ship will now be able to dress like “seafaring captains, inspired by their favorite mouse.”
