The Disney Parks Blog has some suggestions for immersing yourself in the holidays during your visit to the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort.
The hotels are all uniquely decorated for the season, from the tree lit with lanterns in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, to the underwater-themed tree in the lobby of Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel and the wintry nod to “it’s a small world” Holiday in the lobby of the Disneyland Hotel.
Also in the lobby of the Grand Californian is the traditional 7-foot tall, 12-foot wide gingerbread house recreation of the hotel, made from 600 pounds of gingerbread, 600 pounds of powdered sugar, and 250 pounds of fondant. Located nearby is a holiday cart with sweet treats and warm drinks.
If you want to make a gingerbread house of your own, check out the Grand Gingerbread House Experience at Storytellers Cafe. The class is open to the public and happens on select days between November 30th and December 22nd. Resort pastry chefs will work with you as you make a miniature gingerbread house while you sip hot cocoa and nibble on cookies. You can even take home your souvenir apron. Reservations can be made online or by calling (714) 781-DINE.
Around the corner, Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures at Napa Rose is adding some items to its Winter Holiday Menu, including Orange Scones, a Tangled Ham and Cranberry Cheese Sandwich, Mini Chicken and Mickey Pumpkin Spice Waffles, Ariel’s Under the Sea Peppermint Shells, and Frozen Gingerbread Cake Pops. The breakfast is available Thursdays through Mondays year-round, but the Winter Holiday menu will only be available November 29th through January 6th.
At the Disneyland Hotel, Steakhouse 55 will be featuring A Very Merry Holiday Tea on select afternoons through December 31st. Enjoy scones, tea sandwiches, desserts, and more.
Santa will be making the rounds to each of the hotels from November 28th through December 24th to collect your wish list.
The Holiday Harmony carolers will provide entertainment at the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier hotel from December 15th through December 25th. At the Grand Californian, look for the Handbell Carolers from November 23rd through January 5th.
Disney Floral & Gifts is offering in-room holiday decorations, including a holiday banner or luminaries. Order online or by calling (714) 781-4438.
Overnight guests of the hotels can sign up for a free Holiday Animation Cel Class that takes place at the Paradise Pier Hotel. The one-hour class covers the history of the hand-drawn animation process and gives you a chance to paint Santa Mickey or Minnie. Registration for the class is required and space is limited.
