Disney Cruise Line has begun their summer season in Alaska, sailing the Disney Wonder out of Vancouver, and this year they are featuring a brand new Port Adventure in Skagway that will have guests experiencing the Alaskan wilderness like never before while paddling the calm waters of Chilkoot Lake!
The Wilderness Kayaking Adventure starts with a high-speed catamaran cruise through the Lynn Canal, North America’s longest and deepest Fjord. During the journey, guests will be able to view “breathtaking glaciers and cascading waterfalls.”
Once guests arrive, they’ll board a kayak and set out on Chilkoot Lake, which is home to bald eagles, Pacific salmon, and other wildlife. Kayakers might even spot a brown bear on the shore.
This Port Adventure lasts 6.5 to 7 hours and costs $199 for adults (ages 10 and up) and $104 for children (ages 8 and 9). Children under 8 are not allowed on this adventure.
The new adventure on Chilkoot Lake joins other paddling adventures in Skagway, including the Glacier Lake Kayak & White Pass Rail Adventure and the Glacier Point Wilderness Safari.
For the Glacier Lake Kayak & White Pass Adventure, guests will kayak on the clear waters of Glacier Lake. To get there, guests will travel on the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad, one of the highlights of Skagway. While kayaking, guests will enjoying “unobstructed panoramic views of the stunning wilderness with snow-capped mountains rising in all directions.”
This combo adventure takes 5 to 5.5 hours and costs $258 (ages 9 and up). Children under 9 are not allowed on this adventure.
For sometime a little different, try the Glacier Point Wilderness Safari, where guests take a boat ride through the Lynn Canal fjord, then board a 31-foot canoe and visit the face of the Davidson Glacier.
The canoeing adventure takes 6 to 6.5 hours and costs $258 for adults (ages 10 and up). Children under 10 are not allowed on this adventure.
The Disney Wonder sails 5, 7, and 9-night itineraries to Alaska now through September 3rd, and again May 20 through September 9, 2019.
