Rumors have been swirling for some time that Disney Cruise Line was looking to expand its fleet, and it has finally been confirmed. Disney announced during their shareholders meeting that two new ships will be added – one completed in 2021 and the other in 2023. The company just entered into an agreement with the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany for construction of the new ships.
Details right now are still in development, but Disney confirmed that the ships will be slightly larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy at 135,000 gross tons with approximately 1,250 guest staterooms.
More details will be announced at a later date, including ship names, plans and itineraries.
