The Walt Disney Company is heading into awards season with plenty to celebrate. Disney has received a total of 5 Academy Award nominations across multiple studios and platforms, including theatrical releases and Disney+ originals.
The nominations recognize work from 20th Century Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, and Walt Disney Animation Studios, highlighting Disney’s continued presence across both live-action and animated storytelling.
Among the nominees is Avatar: Fire and Ash, which picked up two nominations. The film earned recognition for Best Costume Design for Deborah L. Scott and Best Visual Effects, with Joe Letteri, Richard Baneham, Eric Saindon, and Daniel Barrett named among the visual effects team. The film is currently playing in theaters.
Pixar’s Elio received a nomination for Best Animated Feature Film. The film premiered in theaters and is now available to stream on Disney+, marking another strong showing for Pixar in the animated category.
Disney+ also earned a nomination thanks to Retirement Plan, which was recognized in the Best Animated Short Film category. The short is currently streaming on Disney+ in the UK and Europe.
Rounding out Disney’s nominations is Zootopia 2, which received a Best Animated Feature Film nomination. The highly anticipated sequel is now in theaters and continues the story of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.
The 2026 Academy Awards ceremony will air live on The Oscars on Sunday, March 15, from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. The broadcast will air on ABC and stream live on Hulu, with Conan O’Brien returning to host for a second consecutive year.
With nominations across animation, visual effects, costume design, and short-form storytelling, Disney once again finds itself firmly in the awards season spotlight.
