After more than a decade of leading Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy is reportedly stepping down at the end of 2025, according to Variety. Kennedy has reportedly informed associates of her intention to step down, though no official announcement has been made.
Kathleen Kennedy became the co-chair of Lucasfilm in 2012 alongside George Lucas. Once The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm for $4 billion later that same year, Lucas exited, and Kennedy was named president.
Kennedy oversaw the development and production of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny, Rogue One, Solo, and live-action Disney+ Star Wars shows including Andor and the ever-popular The Mandalorian. She is also producing the film The Mandalorian & Grogu, which will premiere in theaters on May 22nd, 2026.
Kennedy has a longtime blockbuster history with Hollywood, as she co-founded Amblin Entertainment with Steven Spielberg and her then-future husband Frank Marshall in 1981. Kennedy and Marshall then went on to create The Kennedy/Marshall Company in 1992. Her producer and executive producer credits include Jurassic Park, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, Back to the Future, Gremlins, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and The Goonies. (Ever heard of them?)
