Disney just gave us our first real look at what’s next for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and this one actually moves the needle.
Starting May 22, 2026, guests at both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will step into a brand-new mission featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu. It’s not a small tweak. It’s a full story update that sends crews across multiple Star Wars locations with a clear objective: track down bounties for Hondo Ohnaka and the New Republic.
The setup goes like this: Hondo has intel on three targets. Two Imperial officers. One pirate. Guests will climb into the ship, meet up with Mando and Grogu, and chase those bounties across the galaxy. Disney says destinations include Tatooine, Bespin’s Cloud City, Coruscant, and even the wreckage of the second Death Star near Endor.
Smugglers Run has really leaned into repeatable experiences. These new updates look and sound as if they’re more intentional and cinematic, and if they match the early concepts, they could give the attraction the repeatability factor that fans have been wishing for.
The update also ties directly into The Mandalorian and Grogu film, hitting theaters the same day. That timing isn’t accidental. Disney clearly wants the parks and films to feed off each other again.

Beyond the Falcon, the parks aren’t standing still.
At both resorts, Galaxy’s Edge remains the anchor. There’s always a high demand for Rise of the Resistance, Star Tours alternates dozens of story variations regularly, and characters like Vader, Rey, and Mando roam Batuu. Nighttime offerings like “Shadows of Memory” fireworks at Disneyland continue to make the land even more incredible after dark, while classics like Oga’s Cantina and Docking Bay 7 keep things alive between missions.

Over at Disneyland, seasonal overlays like Hyperspace Mountain and events tied to Star Wars Day keep things fresh. Walt Disney World leans more on its core lineup, but the experience is still anchored by Galaxy’s Edge’s immersive design and interactive elements, such as the Datapad.

The International Disney theme parks and Disney Cruise Line round out the experiences with their own Star Wars touches. There’s Hyperspace Mountain in Paris, Star Tours updates overseas, and themed lounges and kids’ spaces on the cruise ships.
This Smugglers Run update is the big story here. It’s the first time in a while that Disney has meaningfully expanded one of its newer attractions instead of just layering on seasonal extras. If it lands with guests, it could reset expectations for how often these rides evolve.
We’ll find out soon enough. May 22 isn’t far away. Will you be there?
