Galaxy Note 7 smartphones banned from many cruise lines due to overheating

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones are being banned from many of the major cruise lines after reports of the phones overheating.

Samsung recalled the phone last month; in the U.S. alone, there were 92 reports of the battery overheating. Those include 26 reports of burns and 55 reports of property damage.

Included in the ban are: Disney Cruise Line, Carnival, Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruises, Cunard Line, Crystal Cruises, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Seabourn Cruise, and more.

There were signs hung in the Disney Cruise Line terminals stating: “If you own a Galaxy Note 7 and have not replaced your recalled device, please power it off and do not charge it for the duration of the cruise. We recommend storing electronics and valuables in your stateroom safe.”
