The D23 event this weekend has brought more news regarding the return of entertainment to Walt Disney World in addition to some new additions during the World’s Most Magical Celebration. Thanks to this event, and Disney Park’s Blog, we have a lot of news regarding new, returning, and revamped experiences for guests.
It was recently announced that a reimagined version of the “Finding Nemo: The Musical” will return to Theater in the Wild at Animal Kingdom Park. Today, Disney announced more details regarding the updated show. The new musical will be called “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond.” It will be set during the time frame of the Finding Dory movie and guests who take a seat at the show will find themselves at the Marine Life Institute. Many beloved songs from the original will be included (I’m hoping to hear “Go With the Flow”). Look for the new Nemo musical to begin in 2022.
Fantasmic! is also returning to Disney World in 2022 and will incorporate a new sequence with live performers, stunts, special effects, and more.
Live entertainment is returning to the front of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park in early 2022. “Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire” will incorporate both favorite scenes from the previous show as well as new additions. New features include sequences from Frozen, Tangled, and The Princess and the Frog, a new opening and finale with Mickey and friends with his new EARidecent outfits, and a new original song, “Where the Magic Feels Like Home.”
With the reopening of Disney Parks, cavalcades have become a big part of guests’ experiences and a way for favorite characters to be visible around the parks. Later this winter, Disney will introduce a new cavalcade, the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade. This lineup of characters, also the most of any cavalcade to date, will be embarking on a journey throughout the park. Be on the lookout for Nick and Judy from Zootopia, King Louie and Baloo from The Jungle Book, José and Panchito from The Three Caballeros, Miguel from Coco, Merida, Moana, The Incredibles, and more.
Also returning in 2022, the Festival of Fantasy parade will once again fill the Magic Kingdom with its vibrant colors and characters.
We are excited to see the return of some of the much-loved and much-missed entertainment as well as the revamping of some of these experiences as well.
