Passenger Air Lifted from Disney Dream Near West Palm Beach

At approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday, a 46-year-old man was transported via helicopter from the Disney Dream cruise ship to St. Mary’s Medical Center due to a medical emergency, according to the U.S. Coast Guard who received a call from the ship when it was approximately 80 miles southeast of West Palm Beach.

“This was one of those times where every second counted, and I’m very grateful for the professionalism of the Disney crew and the hospital staff in their efforts to transport the patient as safely and efficiently as possible,” said Lt. Michael Wightman of the helicopter crew.

The man has not been identified and the Coast Guard did not state what illness he was suffering from.
