Traditionally, many of the runners at Disney races come in costume, adding to the fun and uniqueness of running through the Disney theme parks.

Some of these new rules include:

  • Race participants may still dress as their favorite characters, but may not pose for photos or sign any autographs for other guests.
  • Costumes must be family-friendly and not obstructive, offensive, or violent.
  • Costumes must not contain anything that could be mistaken for a weapon.
  • Costumes may not contain sharp or pointed objects.
  • runDisney participants ages 13 and under may wear masks, but the mask may not cover their whole face and their eyes must be visible.
  • runDisney participants ages 14 and older may not wear layered costumes (such as a Jedi robe) that could conceal prohibited items. Costume props may not surround the entire body (such as the Death Star or the UP House). Costumes may not touch the ground. Capes must be waist length or shorter. Themed t-shirts and hats are allowed. Approved accessories include: transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords and tutus. Masks are not allowed.

Guests ages 14 and older are not allowed to wear costumes in the theme parks, so if one is worn for a race, it will need to be removed before entering the parks.

As the Senior Editor of the DIS (wdwinfo.com), Leah spends a lot of time writing about, reading about, and discussing Disney. So, it should come as no surprise that one of her family's favorite ways to spend time is going to Walt Disney World and traveling on Disney Cruise Line. She also enjoys shopping, watching movies with her husband and doing crafts with and for her kids.
