SeaWorld Orlando has announced a new 200-foot-tall hypercoaster set to open summer 2016. With 4,760 feet of track and speeds topping out at 73 mph, Mako will be Orlando’s tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster.
Mako takes its name from Mako sharks (or blue pointers), which are know for their speed, extreme jumps and ability to quickly change course when hunting prey. Mako will mimic the shark’s with tight turns, high speeds, steep drops and hills the give riders that weightless feeling.
Mako will also feature a unique sound system, with surround sound effects and musical scores that will enhance the experience for both the riders and those in the area.
At night, lights will simulate fish being scattered by attacking sharks.
Mako is being manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, which is also responsible for Manta and Kraken.
Mako will be part of a new shark-themed area that will include Shark Encounter and Sharks Underwater Grill, plus shops and educational experiences.
