Disney just dropped another fun preview of the upcoming Muppets version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and this one is going to hit longtime fans right in the nostalgic feels.
In a newly shared reel, Statler and Waldorf have been spotted in their new home inside the attraction. And they’re doing exactly what we all love so much. Sitting, judging, and complaining about everything around them.
The clip gives a quick look at where the iconic duo will appear, seated together as they take in the chaos of the ride’s updated storyline. They are only visible from the ride vehicle as you zoom by to the attraction’s exit. But the real moment comes from what they say.
In a fun nod to Muppet*Vision 3D, Statler and Waldorf joke that they can’t even get up to use the restroom because they’re “bolted” to their seats. If you’ve spent any time in that theater before it closed, you know exactly why that line lands. It’s the perfect callback that shows Disney understands what fans actually remember, and according to the comments posted so far, it’s just what we all need.
It also confirms something a lot of people were hoping for. This version of the attraction isn’t just swapping in Muppets characters. It’s pulling from the history and humor that made them work in the parks in the first place.
Statler and Waldorf have always been about the heckling commentary. They don’t move much, and they don’t need to. They just react. Putting them in a ride environment like this opens the door to so many quick jokes and running gags, especially in this setting. They even joke that “this concert reminds [them] of a roller coaster” because “it’s all downhill.”
This reveal follows the earlier preview of Scooter’s new Audio-Animatronics figure. We’re excited to see more personality, more humor, less of a straight retheme, and more of a full Muppets-style takeover.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is set to open soon, and these little teasers Disney is sharing are giving fans plenty to look forward to.
Having Statler and Waldorf back in the parks again just feels right. I only wish that I could stomach this attraction!
