Start Planning Your New 2026 Disney Parks Holiday Visit

There is something about January 1st that feels full of possibility. After weeks of watching Disney Parks sparkle through Thanksgiving, the holidays, and New Year’s Eve, it is hard not to feel a little tug of jealousy when you were not there in person. You scroll past fireworks, festive snacks, and castle photos, and suddenly that old Disney dream starts whispering again. The good news is that today is the perfect day to listen to it. A new year is the ideal time to turn daydreams into plans, without getting overwhelmed by peak crowds or holiday chaos.

One of the easiest ways to start is by looking at the smaller seasonal moments that still feel special. Valentine’s Day might not be an official Disney holiday, but it is an incredible excuse for a romantic getaway. Disney does this time of year beautifully, and you do not have to travel on the exact day itself to soak up the atmosphere. A February trip can deliver a relaxed pace, cozy dining, and that just because feeling that makes it perfect for couples who want something magical without waiting most of the year.

Halloween is another season that keeps pulling people back, and for good reason. Disney’s Halloween celebrations stretch from August through October 31st, making it one of the longest and most flexible seasons to plan around. It is spooky without being scary, festive without being overwhelming, and ideal for families with younger kids. Late September and early October remain my sweet spot. You are close enough to Halloween to feel the excitement in the air, but not so close that crowds start complicating every plan.

Then there are the holidays, which might just be my favorite season at Disney, with one small caveat. I love the holiday atmosphere, but I am not always eager to visit on the actual holiday dates themselves. Some years, the best move is heading to Disney early in the season, letting the decorations, music, and treats kickstart the Christmas spirit, and then bringing that joy home with you. There is something special about decorating your own house after Disney has already filled your cup with festive inspiration.

And yes, we are already talking about New Year’s Eve 2026. If that sounds early, welcome to my brain. I am absolutely someone who has trips in various stages of planning, 12 to 18 months out, with a long daydreaming phase before that. For New Year’s Eve, I often lean toward Disneyland Resort over Walt Disney World. Anaheim tends to keep more areas open later, including Downtown Disney, and there is usually more entertainment spread across the parks, which matters when ride availability drops during peak crowds. I also love the walkability. Being able to stroll back to a Good Neighbor hotel instead of waiting hours for transportation at the end of the night is priceless.

January 1st is not about locking everything in today. It is about giving yourself permission to dream again and letting those dreams slowly take shape. Whether you are eyeing a quick Valentine’s escape, a spooky season favorite, a festive holiday visit, or already plotting how to ring in 2026, now is the time to start imagining what could be.
