It’s been a while since the team enjoyed breakfast at Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. With the restaurant being just steps away from the Magic Kingdom, we felt like the time was right to check it out again. Reservations are highly recommended as this location can fill up quickly, but on occasion, guests are able to walk right in or even join the walk-up waiting list, depending on availability.
Steakhouse 71 is located in the back corner of the resort after you walk by the front desk(s). It is also in very convenient proximity to the monorail, making heading to the theme parks easy after you’re finished eating. This is an excellent option if your family isn’t interested in Character Dining at Chef Mickey’s, but wants to start their day with a delicious meal in a great location. Let’s see how things turned out!
Ryno enjoyed the 1971 Sunset cocktail at Steakhouse 71 made with Herradura Reposado Tequila, Tropical Juices, Rosemary, and House-made Grenadine, for $15, finding it well-balanced with a noticeable tequila flavor. For his entree, he opted for Eggs Benedict, priced at $17, praising the perfectly poached eggs and well-cooked breakfast potatoes. Added sriracha elevated the dish.
Seasonal Gingerbread Pancakes at $15 with sausage on the side impressed Ryno; the gingerbread flavor was prominent, and he suggested a slight adjustment in presentation with regard to the icing drizzle.
Newcomer Hannah recommended the Western Omelette at $17, praising the well-cooked grits at Steakhouse 71. Hannah also mentions that if you’re not typically a fan of grits, the dish served here might impress you as they prepared well and not gritty.
Ryno and Hannah both praised the value of the $20 refillable Mimosa, mentioning its generous serving and quality, making it a great Disney breakfast option. Steakhouse 71’s mimosa contains Los Dos Cava Brut Sparkling Wine and Orange Juice. They also mentioned that they never had to ask for the cocktail to be refilled as the server stayed on top of keeping the glass full.
Craig enjoyed the Curious Cold Brew cocktail made with Maker’s Mark Bourbon, Joffrey’s Coffee Cold Brew, Maple, and Vanilla Bean Cream for $15, noting its strong bourbon flavor and energizing effect.
Craig chose Walt’s Prime Rib Hash for $18, commending the well-cooked prime rib, flavorful hash, and perfectly cooked fried egg. He appreciated the overall balance of the dish.
Ryno rated the ambiance at 7.5, noting that it absorbs sound well and makes conversation easy. Service received a perfect 10, praising the attentive staff and excellent recommendations.
Hannah gave an 8 for ambiance, appreciating the mid-century retro vibe but highlighting the lack of a scenic view. She highly recommended Steakhouse 71 for its reasonable pricing and proximity to the Magic Kingdom.
Craig praised the overall experience, giving high scores for ambiance (8), food prep (8), quality of taste (9), and service (10). He found the cost reasonable for Disney, giving it an 8.
Overall, the team gives two thumbs up for this dining location and recommends that you give it a try on your next Walt Disney World vacation! You can watch the review in the video below.
