Many people think of Disney World as just having hamburgers and chicken fingers to eat… they couldn’t be more wrong! Disney World has some of my favorite food ever! Quick snacks, quick service, fine dining and it is all amazing! There are, of course, some restaurants that are better than others. I love to eat with the characters (there is nothing like going to Chef Mickey’s for the first time), but as far as quality food, there are some better options available. In this article, I am going to focus particularly on table service restaurants.
Here is a list of some fantastic table service restaurants that are not as well known:
* All of the restaurants listed will be available on the Disney Dining Plan, and most will need reservations booked far in advance.
1.) The Wave
This restaurant is located at the Contemporary Resort. It has some great options for pretty much anything you could want. The food is great, my personal favorite is the Grilled Beef Tenderloin. It is never overwhelmingly crowded, but it still books up very quickly. It has a contemporary and classy feel to it, which is very relaxing after finishing a day at the parks.
2.) Whispering Canyon Cafe
This restaurant is located at the Wilderness Lodge. It books up quickly, but I think that is mostly because it is not that big of a restaurant. It is a very family-friendly restaurant, with a warm and yet chaotic atmosphere. The cast members want to get the whole family involved in the action, so be sure to ask for ketchup! The BBQ food is amazing; I particularly enjoy the family style platter, as it gives a variety of different BBQ. Also, be sure to get a milkshake!
3.) Teppan Edo
This restaurant is located in the Japan Pavilion at the World Showcase in Epcot. I have not heard too many people talk about this restaurant, but the food is fantastic and it is such a fun experience as well! Hibachi is so fun and delicious, plus Disney adds a fun spin to it; extra magic is added! The food is incredible, seriously amazing! It is going to always be a MUST DO for my trips.
This restaurant is located at the Polynesian Resort and is very talked about. I still do not think it gets talked about enough. This is my favorite restaurant and favorite food of all time, not just in Disney World. Ohana serves Hawaiian specialties and they are all served family style. The food just keeps on comin’. There is an appetizer, entree, and an amazing dessert. The bread pudding is to die for and is my favorite dessert at Disney World, besides a Dole Whip. HIGHLY recommend getting reservations 180 days in advance of your trip for Ohana.
5.) Be Our Guest
(Yes, I know, this one gets more than enough credit and is raved about!) I still wanted to write about it because it offers two wonderful things. Be Our Guest is filled with an enchanting and peaceful atmosphere. Wonderful food and desserts are served, it is truly delicious. TRY THE GREY STUFF! It also offers a character experience, which does not overwhelm the dining experience. After finishing your meal, you then head to the library to meet the Beast. Truly a magical experience for all!
Disney World has wonderful dining experiences! Take my advice though, book your reservations in advance!
180 DAYS IN ADVANCE! and…always order dessert!
I have been going to Disney World since I was a young girl. I have moved a lot in my life, so Disney was the place I always liked to call Home.
Now, I am married and plan my own trips to Disney with my husband.
I love to have the best time, eat the best food, and get the best price!
I hope I can share with you how to truly have an hakuna matata vacation!
