Who says there are no freebies in Disney World?! This series features the fun magical extras at Disney that are absolutely free, and that no one seems to know about!
Magic Kingdom is the park of fantasy in Walt Disney World. Just behind Cinderella Castle is a shop called Sir Mickey’s. You’ll be able to identify it by the massive beanstalk limbs growing out of it. (Fun fact: Look for Willie the Giant peeking into the ceiling inside the store!) Go up to the cast members near the register and ask if the Fairy Godmother left any pixie dust that day!
Remember, Peter Pan said all we need to fly is faith, trust, and pixie dust! These days, pixie dust won’t make you fly, but it makes your day magical. The best part…you can get it for FREE!
There is no age limit on this extra! This means that those of us who are young at heart can also participate! The cast member will call you over and ask you to bow your head, or bend down if you’re taller than a small child. He or she will ask you to close your eyes and make a wish and they will say something adorable while shaking a little wand filled with pixie dust over your hair. You will have the memory… and the pixie dust forever. Okay, maybe not forever, but at least for a few days.

Psssssst – In case you didn’t know, pixie dust doubles as super fine glitter here in the boring, non-fairy tale world.

Where else can you get pixie dust?
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has not yet reopened after the 2020 closure, but once it does reopen, this is another place where there is pixie dust. However, this magical experience comes with a price tag. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a princess (or prince) makeover experience that starts at $75. At the end of the experience, each child’s Fairy Godmother will give them a proper send off with pixie dust. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a reservation-only service. Once it reopens, it is important to book this experience 60 days out because it fills up fast. As of May 2022, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has not reopened and Disney has not released any information other than it is “coming soon.” We also have seen “coming soon” signage in the Magic Kingdom, and Disney has put out a call to hire cast members for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. All signs lead us to believe that we will be seeing happy little princesses around Magic Kingdom soon!

The Harmony Barber Shop located on Main Street, U.S.A. was an actual functioning barbershop prior to the 2020 closure, and it’s recently been announced that it will reopen on July 31st. In fact, reservations open today! Here a baby can get its first haircut, complete with special certificate and Mickey ears, and men, young and old, can get a nice, fresh trim. In addition to that, you guessed it, the shop also has pixie dust for young dreamers who ask. Just like Sir Mickey’s, this is a free extra.
