With the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party kicking off tomorrow, November 7th, that means Magic Kingdom had to get into the holiday spirit shortly after the Mickey pumpkin wreaths and Halloween decor came down.
This week, Walt Disney World’s decorators were hard at work hanging all the wreaths, hanging lights and garlands around Magic Kingdom, and installing the 65-foot Christmas tree on Main Street. Let’s take a look at this year’s decor, which includes some new themed finishes in Fantasyland!
It all starts at the Transportation & Ticket Center – your gateway to Magic Kingdom. Wreaths and garland studded with traditional fruits and not-so-hidden Mickeys hang around the ticket booth area:

A nearby sign promotes MVMCP, hyping us up for all the cookies and cocoa with Mickey and Minnie:
Interestingly enough, this signage includes the Castle Dream Lights, even though they’ve been long gone since 2019.

As we approach Magic Kingdom from the ferry boat, we can already see the Christmas tree peeking out!

Approaching the turnstiles, topiaries of Mickey and Minnie with red and white winter accessories are poised for holiday shots:

The Main Street Train Station is decked out in red velvet bows, ornament-studded garland, and the Mickey florals are red and green!

Let’s head into the park!

From the Train Station and Fire Station to the Emporium and Confectionery you’ll spot decorated garlands lining each building and hanging from each entry way throughout Town Square and Main Street, U.S.A. Each are filled with metallic Christmas ornaments, traditional fruits, like oranges, lemons, apples and pineapples, and various ribbons.

The Town Square Theater is also decorated on the inside:

The classic wooden toy soldiers are back amongst the flora and fauna of Town Square, all surrounding the iconic Magic Kingdom Christmas tree.

The Christmas Tree is filled with oversized popcorn garland, gingerbread cookies, and vintage toys.

Speaking of toys, you’ll see a few colorful ones at the base – including smaller versions of those toy soldiers!

Heading down Main Street, the candle wreaths and fruit-filled lamppost decorations have returned, lighting the way down to Cinderella Castle.

And once in the castle hub, large wreaths line the lampposts, once again filled with fruits and large pineapples – representing warm welcomes, celebration and prosperity. (Fitting for the vacation kingdom of the world, no?)

NEW Decor in Fantasyland
New this year, the decorating teams have added themed Christmas decor throughout the “newer” areas of Fantasyland, including Storybook Circus, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
At the entrance to Storybook Circus, oversized tinsel candy canes with large gold ornaments flank the area’s marquee.

Wreaths hang from lampposts, decorated with metallic green, red and gold, featuring a large striped disc with Dumbo wearing a Santa hat at the center.

Nearby garlands are decorated with glittering stars, circus animal and clown ornaments.

Heigh Ho Ho Ho! Walking over to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, the attraction’s entrance is decorated.

Each of the lampposts lining the walkway up to the entrance feature large, themed bunches of pine, decorated with more natural-looking ornaments, complete with sprigs of holly, daisies, sparkling gems, and pickaxes.

A large Christmas tree is tucked to the left of the attraction entrance, filled with the same themed decorations, and a cart full of jewels at the base:

And just across the way at The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, each of the lampposts feature a honeybee-themed decoration, with honey dippers, bees, shiny gold bows, and wildflowers — probably sourced straight from 100 acre wood.

The attraction’s marquee has two wreaths with Heffalumps dressed as honeybees set amongst honeycomb:

Just near the marquee, more themed garland hangs with a large red glass balloon:

Once you enter the queue, you’ll spot some wrapped presents appropriately themed to each of Pooh’s pals.

I’m loving these new themed decor elements for the holiday season. It’s one of those things where they didn’t have to, but they did… Could even more be added over the coming years – perhaps near Peter Pan’s Flight, or The Haunted Mansion?
Cinderella Castle Decorations
Ladies and gentlemen… it’s the backside of Cinderella Castle! While we all miss the Castle Dream Lights, Magic Kingdom’s castle still gets dressed up a little for the season. On the backside, you’ll find garland decorated with blue tulle, with sparkling ornaments, flowers, chandelier crystals, and silver bows.

Phew, you made it to the end! There’s so much to see at Magic Kingdom this time of year with holiday decorations alone. What’s your favorite? Are you planning a Christmastime visit?
