You’ve had your Walt Disney World vacation planned for months, but you just have to take a work call in between all of the magic. Perhaps you need to have a private conversation with Aunt Beatrice about how many Mickey Ice Cream Bars she’s been purchasing for the family… or maybe you’re simply feeling a little too overstimulated and need a place to decompress. Hey, we’ve all been there.
Here are a few of my favorite places at Magic Kingdom to take in some quieter moments at one of the busiest places on earth.
‣ Tom Sawyer Island‘s days are numbered with that new Cars area in the works, and it may take a raft ride to get over yonder, but there are some pretty quiet hidden gems to enjoy here.
‣ Near The Wishing Well next to Cinderella Castle, and the along the Castle Walls near Pinocchio’s Village Haus. Both of these areas offer shaded seating or benches nearby, and are tucked away from the busy hubbub of Fantasyland.
‣ This article’s featured image is of the upstairs seating area at Columbia Harbor House – come for the quiet, stay for the people-watching views high above Liberty Square and Fantasyland!
‣ Tucked away seating inside Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe can provide respite. Bonus points if it’s outside common lunching hours.
‣ Keep in mind, Health Services (located between Casey’s Corner and Crystal Palace) are always there in case you must rest for a few moments in complete quiet without having to travel back to your resort.
‣ I’d be remiss if I didn’t at least mention the ultimate decompression attraction: the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. Tip: request the front or back car to minimize the chance of noisy “neighbors”.
