Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has begun! We were there on opening night, November 9th, and had a fun time. We definitely got a taste of that holiday cheer. As we enjoyed the party and got to experience many of the different offerings, I noted the four things I think everyone should experience when attending the party, whether it’s your first time or your 5th time coming to the event.
Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas Parade
I know we all love Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and some Disney fans say it’s their favorite themed parade. It is a grand parade, but I think Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas Time Parade is the best. The parade includes holiday cheer, our favorite characters, and the iconic Toy Soldiers. The floats are also breathtaking and are like no other.
I enjoy watching it from Frontierland, but this time, we watched it from just outside Main Street, U.S.A. It was great. We were standing where the street curves, so we got a great look at each float and all the dancers. This parade is so magical, and it will get you feeling all the Christmas feels the minute it starts.
Grab as many free Cookies and Holiday Beverages
One of the biggest perks of this event is the free cookies and holiday drinks. Ryno loves the eggnog and is always on the hunt for the eggnog station at Tortuga Tavern. Personally, I enjoy the apple cider they serve at the Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland. It is so delicious. The other items they hand out for free are various cookies and Hot Cocoa.
If you have a food allergy or dietary restrictions, don’t worry; Disney has an allergy-friendly option at each station. Unfortunately, each location serves the same allergy-friendly cookies. At Tortuga Tavern, they told us they have a double chocolate allergy-friendly cookie package, but they couldn’t promise that each location would have those. We went through each spot once, so I stocked up on those allergy-friendly chocolate chip cookies. I regret not returning to the Lunching Pad to get more apple cider. It’s so good. I miss it already.
Check out the Characters all Dressed up!
Even if you don’t have time to meet the characters, keep an eye out because seeing them dressed in their holiday outfits is fun. Typically, we don’t stop and focus on the characters, but this time, we decided to go to two meet-and-greet spots. We only waited 28 minutes to meet the Seven Dwarfs at Pete’s Silly Sideshow, which was amazing because this line is usually very long.
Next door, we found Santa Goofy, and he had a short line, so of course, we jumped into the queue. It was so fun meeting Santa Goofy. He is one of my favorite holiday characters to meet.
Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks
“Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks” shows Minnie Mouse inviting everyone to come together to celebrate the magic of Christmas. The show features fireworks, projections, and beloved holiday songs. This isn’t my favorite fireworks show, but no party is complete without seeing the fireworks light up the sky at Magic Kingdom.
This nighttime fireworks show goes off at 10:00 p.m., so be sure to save a spot near the castle about 30 minutes before the show. This will ensure you can see the projections on the castle and the fireworks.
Bonus – Frozen Holiday Surprise
I know this isn’t exclusive to the party because it shows at 6:15 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., so that day, guests and party guests can enjoy the short show.
Guests can join in celebrating the new “Frozen Holiday Surprise” as Olaf and more than 100 of his Snowgie siblings decorate Cinderella Castle with festive touches. Appearing live on stage in new holiday looks, Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Kristoff each bring something unique to the gathering. Festivities culminate as Elsa adds sparkling finishing touches, transforming Cinderella Castle into a shimmering crystallized palace – a look that will remain throughout the evening.
I am a huge Frozen fan. Anna is my favorite Disney queen and quickly became one of my favorite characters. Don’t worry; Belle is still my favorite of all time, but Anna holds that number two spot. Seeing Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf on stage all together singing “When We’re Together” really pulled at my heartstrings. Many other Disney fans have said that this new offering is just okay, but I love it.
