The holidays at Disney are pure magic, but not all festive nights are created equal. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) at Magic Kingdom serves up classic, cookie-filled, snowy Main Street charm, while Disney Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios leans into glitzy, vintage Hollywood vibes. Both promise rare character interactions, unique entertainment, and special treats… but your perfect night depends on whether you’re after timeless tradition or late-night sparkle.

The Logistics: Times and Tickets
The 2025 season brought specific price points and entry windows for both events. MVMCP continues its long-standing tradition with earlier park entry to enjoy favorite Magic Kingdom rides before the party begins, while Jollywood Nights gives you a glitzy, late-night alternative.

Gifts and PhotoPass
Both events give attendees a commemorative ornament, but the presentation and quality differs. Comparing 2025’s gifts: MVMCP’s enamel ornament is cute and classic, given in bubble wrap; while Jollywood Nights is handing out a weighty, high-quality frame ornament tucked into a velvet drawstring bag.

PhotoPass also sets them apart: Jollywood Nights includes digital downloads of all event photos, adding value to the ticket price, while MVMCP requires an additional purchase unless you already have Memory Maker.

Treats and Dining
MVMCP is the go-to for classic “free” treats, like various cookies and holiday beverages — like hot cocoa, eggnog, and apple cider — scattered around Magic Kingdom.

Limited-time menus offer holiday-themed dishes for an upcharge, including the Holiday Ravioli (our favorite!), and loaded mini corn dog nuggets, and non-alcoholic beverages. There’s also plenty of holiday-themed sweets around just about every corner.

In my experience, I found myself eating a small meal early on, and snacking on a cookie or two the rest of the night so we could get the most out of the party’s entertainment offerings and attractions.
At Jollywood Nights, while you receive a small tube of Christmas M&Ms minis upon entry, the rest of your night’s fare is reliant on elevated, upcharge dining.

The food at Jollywood Nights is always a highlight for me. The menus feature more sophisticated small bites and creative cocktails at spots like ABC Commissary, the Tip Top Club at the Tower of Terror, and food carts around the park. It’s a different kind of indulgence, but one that’s perfect for grown-ups or foodies.

Character Encounters
Both parties offer rare characters, but the rosters differ:
- MVMCP: Classic favorites in holiday outfits, including Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy, Stitch, Santa Goofy, and Pooh & friends, plus a few rare appearances like Jack Skellington as “Sandy Claws” and Scrooge McDuck. Be prepared to anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes for these experiences!

- Jollywood Nights: Nostalgic “deep cuts” and rare appearances include Max Goof as Powerline, Phineas and Ferb, Miguel, Bing Bong, Partysaurus Rex, Lotso, Mandalorian & Grogu, Chewbacca in his Life Day robe, and Santa Duffy; characters you rarely see elsewhere in the parks. In our experience, our longest wait was for Chewbacca at about 30 minutes, the rest of the characters were a quick 5-10 minute wait on a sold out night!

Attraction Wait Times & Crowds
One of the biggest differences between the two parties shows up on the rides. Magic Kingdom’s MVMCP still sees longer waits on top attractions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or TRON Lightcycle Run — even with limited attendance — because the park is larger, headliners are extremely popular, and parades and fireworks draw big crowds which make navigating specific areas throughout the night. If you don’t set expectations, there’s a bit more pressure to see and do it all within the party timeframe.

Hollywood Studios’ Jollywood Nights, on the other hand, naturally feels more relaxed. The park is smaller, tickets are capped lower, and guests often spend time at capacity-eating exclusive shows, dining, and unique character experiences, which naturally spreads people out. As a result, in my experience, even headliners like Slinky Dog Dash or Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance rarely saw waits above 15 minutes.

The Vibe: Traditional vs. Vintage
The biggest difference is really the feel of the night. MVMCP is pure, traditional Christmas magic: collecting Christmas cookies and cocoa, the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks, snowfall on Main Street, and traditional decor.

Jollywood Nights is a mid-century Hollywood glam experience packed with rarer characters and unique entertainment: a Muppets-hosted variety show, a Nightmare Before Christmas sing-along, and the dazzling “Glisten!” ice skating show along Hollywood Boulevard.

So which fits your holiday mood? Classic Magic Kingdom tradition or the low-wait, vintage Hollywood glitz of Jollywood Nights? While I’m leaning more towards Jollywood after this year’s experience, I really don’t think you can go wrong either way! It’s not too early to start planning for your 2026 holiday season…
