Disney shared a major update on the upcoming Monstropolis land during the Horizons: A Carousel of Progress presentation at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event 2026, revealing new entertainment, attractions and experiences. The land will now open earlier than expected in 2027, bringing guests into the world of Monsters, Inc.
One of the biggest additions is a brand-new song, “Welcome to Monstropolis,” written by Randy Newman. The song will also give its name to the land’s signature theater show inside the Glob Theater, which explores the idea that monsters and humans may be more alike than we think. Sulley plans a small show, but Mike Wazowski predictably turns it into something much bigger, while the CDA agents don’t appear particularly thrilled about guests visiting Monstropolis.
The land will also feature the highly anticipated Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster, which will lift riders 40 feet into the air in just four seconds before launching them into the ride. Disney also confirmed Harryhausen’s sushi restaurant, featuring a full animatronic version of the classic sushi chef monster, along with Archie Scary Pig Pizza for quick service and the Elite Scariers Club, which will celebrate the history of professional scarers.
