‘The Last Jedi’ Helps Put Walt Disney Studios Over $6 Billion in 2017

Helped by strong ticket sales from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Walt Disney Studios will top over $6 billion at the worldwide box office in 2017, making it the first studio to do so two years in a row. Disney also saw strong performances from Beauty and the Beast and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

In 2016, Disney’s ticket sales topped $7.6 billion, led by Captain America: Civil War, Finding Dory, and Zootopia and this is the third year in which Disney has topped $5 billion.

Domestically, Disney will bring in more than $2 billion in ticket sales in 2017, with the rest of the $6 billion coming in from international sales.  Disney has surpassed $3.5 billion in international ticket sales for the last three years.

So far, Star Wars: The Last Jedi has grossed over $650 million at the worldwide box office, most of that in its first week.
