The Walt Disney Company’s Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger stated that the company may cease production of its films and TV shows in Georgia if the anti-abortion law that the state’s governor signed earlier this month goes into effect. If the law is implemented, it would take effect on January 1, 2020.
During an interview with Reuters, Iger was asked if Disney would continue to film in Georgia should the law pass to which he responded it would be “very difficult to do so.”
He went on further to say “I think many people who work for us will not want to work there, and we will have to heed their wishes in that regard. Right now we are watching it very carefully.”
Netflix has also stated that they will have to “rethink” their investment in the state of Georgia if the law passes.
Georgia is a popular location for numerous film and TV productions as the state offers a tax credit to companies who spend $500,000 or more on production or post-production.
