Toy Story 4 Tops the Box Office in Its Opening Weekend

Toy Story 4, the sequel we didn’t know we needed, opened in first place at the domestic box office. While not up to expectations, and nowhere near record-breaking, the $118 million total makes it one of only three movies this year to top $100 million in its opening weekend, matching Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame.

The film takes fourth place in openings for animated films behind Incredibles 2 ($182 million), Finding Dory ($135 million), and Shrek the Third ($121 million).

Numbers for Toy Story 4 were well ahead two remakes that ended up in second and third place for the weekend: Child’s Play ($14 million) and Aladdin ($10 million).

Adding in international ticket sales of $120 million, Toy Story 4 has brought in $238 million so far.
