After that exciting lineup of theme park project announcements from the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in California earlier this year, us Disney enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting updates. What is all coming to that exciting Villains land beyond Big Thunder Mountain? And just where exactly is Monstropolis going to be at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? We just might hear some of those updates coming out of the very first D23 Brazil event happening this weekend, which kicked off today.
D23 Brazil: What We Know

Key WDW Announcements From Anaheim’s D23 Event
- Monster’s, Inc. Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Construction begins in 2025
- The new Monstropolis-themed land will host the suspended door coaster we’ve always wanted, but at what price? Where will this land be located: Muppet Courtyard, Animation Courtyard, or somewhere else?
- Villains land at Magic Kingdom
- Construction begins soon
- Magic Kingdom will show a darker side with the introduction of a Villains-themed land. This new area located “beyond Big Thunder Mountain” will host two attractions, dining and shopping themed to the sinister side of Disney tales. There’s a lot of big question marks we could have answered this weekend… Construction is set to begin soon.
- Cars “Frontier” Land at Magic Kingdom
- Construction begins in 2025
- We already know this land will be themed to a thrilling rally race through the mountains, and will sadly be replacing the Frontierland’s scenic Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. But this new area will offer two new family-friendly attractions featuring favorite characters from Cars. Perhaps we’ll learn more about the rides, shopping and dining experiences coming to the land.
- Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Opening 2027
- Animal Kingdom will open a new land called Tropical Americas, replacing the footprint DinoLand U.S.A.. This area will include an Indiana Jones thrill ride where DINOSAUR once was, and an Encanto attraction where we’ll soon explore the magical world of the Madrigal family. (DinoLand is closing in phases, with Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama shuttering in January 2025; no closing date has been announced for DINOSAUR)
- Disney Starlight Nighttime Parade for Magic Kingdom
- Stepping off for the first time in summer 2025
- Disney Starlight marks the first new nighttime parade since SpectroMagic debuted in 1991. Initial concept art of the sparkly floats has been shared, but we’d always love to see more!
- Reimagined Test Track at EPCOT
- Opening 2025
- EPCOT’s Test Track is currently undergoing a major reimagining, set to reopen in 2025. The new version of the attraction will explore the past, present, and future of automotive innovation, similar to its predecessor, World of Motion.
- New Grogu & Mandalorian Mission for Smugglers Run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Debuting in 2026
- After much speculation and wishful thinking, a new adventure featuring Mando and Grogu was announced for Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run in celebration of the upcoming film, The Mandalorian and Grogu.
- Spaceship Earth & Pirates of the Caribbean Lounges
- Opening in 2025
- Two new themed lounges are set to open next year, one within the previous executive sponsor lounge just behind Spaceship Earth at EPCOT, and another themed to Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom. But will there be rum?
- Zootopia: Better Zootegether! at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Debuting winter 2025 inside the Tree of Life theater
- The show, “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” will be a 3D adventure through different biomes seen in the world of Zooptopia, and will feature an animatronic figure of Clawhauser.
Which potential updates are you hoping to hear this weekend? You know I’d love to know more about that Monsters, Inc. land… #SaveBeanBunny
