According to Disney Cruise Line officials and reports on disboards.com, Castaway Cay sustained very little damage from Hurricane Matthew and will be hosting Disney ships as scheduled this week.
Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line’s private island, is located in the Bahamas, parts of which were hit hard by last week’s storm.
Guests aboard the Disney Dream were given updates from the island. According to the ship’s crew, the staff on the island was safe and was allowed to go back to their own rooms, instead of staying in the storm shelter. Regular communications were down on the island, but crew members were allowed to call home using a satellite phone.
The crew is now working hard to get the beach ready for the Disney Dream, which arrives on Wednesday.
