Disney Cruise Line has confirmed that changes will be coming to the Disney Wonder when the ship goes to dry dock in Cadiz, Spain in September 2016. Karl Holz, DCL president, did not give any details about the redesign, but did say that changes were coming.
Holz said, “There’s even more up our sleeves. I can’t share the details quite just yet. We’ll be making some very exciting enhancements to the Disney Wonder later this year. Please stay tuned.”
The Disney Magic was rehabbed in 2013 and at that time, Holz had announced that the changes would also be coming to the Wonder. He did say that the company didn’t want the exact same thing to be done to each ship, and that they wanted “different experiences.”
The Orlando Sentinel mentions a possible Frozen stage show coming to the Wonder, as a casting call has been put out for voices for Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Hans, and Kristoff, as well as performers with a “strong tumbling ability” (the rock-like trolls?).
In 2013, Holz said, “When it comes to the Disney Wonder, every single one of our ships we’ve had a robust reinvestment program in those ships and we’ll continue to do that. We’re obviously in that period of time when we’re asking ourselves, “What’s next?” … This is not something you dream up over the course of six months. The reimagining of a ship is something that really begins 2, 2 1/2 almost 3 years out.”
