The Coast Guard was called to evacuate an injured man from the Disney Magic off the coast of South Carolina on Saturday, May 16.  The ship had set sail from Port Canaveral the day before to start a 14-night Transatlantic sailing.  According to the Disney Cruise Line Blog, a 29-year-old man had broken his hip and required medical attention. Around 5:00am, a call was placed to the Coast Guard for help and the Magic began a detour toward South Carolina.  They met up with the Coast Guard helicopter about 45 miles from the coast.  The helicopter did not land on the ship, but instead, the man was raised up in a basket.  Photos of that transfer can be seen on passenger Nancy French’s blog.  He was flown to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in stable condition.

Leah grew up in a little farming town in Illinois, right on the Mississippi River. Her Chicago-born husband, David, left the city for her, and they're now raising their three children (Jacob, Jonah and Lydia) just 12 miles from her hometown. As the Senior Editor of the DIS (wdwinfo.com), Leah spends a lot of time writing about, reading about, and discussing Disney. So, it should come as no surprise that one of her family's favorite ways to spend time is going to Walt Disney World and traveling on Disney Cruise Line. She also enjoys shopping, watching movies with her husband and doing crafts with and for her kids.
