Disney Rumor Round Up October 2019

Welcome to the October edition of Disney Rumor Round Up for 2019! You can check out the September 2019 installment here. Happy Halloween! Hopefully some of these rumors don’t scare you. Disclaimer: Any rumors mentioned in this article are not confirmed by Disney and may not ever happen.

Magic Kingdom

Tomorrowland changes continue to take place, from signage changes, to new paint schemes, to removal of the metal theming pieces throughout the land. This is all part of the overall Tomorrowland renovation in anticipation for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. This is also to help give the land a clean, sleek look with Tron coming.

On the topic of the 50th anniversary, there are some mentions of the possibility of the Main Street Electrical Parade maybe making a return to Walt Disney World. There are also rumors of a brand new nighttime parade. It’s unclear what we will actually end up with. We likely will learn more as time goes on.

Construction on the new Epcot is well under way now, with even more to come later this year and early next. The Fountain of Nations is in the midst of being demolished and trees have been removed all over Future World, giving views many have never seen before.

Test Track will be going under refurbishment on January 13th and through February 26th, 2020. It is expected that after Test Track reopens, Spaceship Earth will close for its lengthy reimagining that could take well over a year to complete.

Going off of that with some more rumored information on World Celebration from WDWMagic, the concept art of the manta ray in Spaceship Earth is not from Moana, but rather just a general projected animal as part of the new storytelling theme. Also in the concept art phase is an Alice in Wonderland themed tea party-type venue. This may have replaced the previously rumored beer garden in the World Celebration area. There are supposedly other things in this area like enchanted woods, a story tree, and a fountain. A new Starbucks and character meet and greet area will also be within World Celebration.

The soon to be former Innoventions East building will stay through all of this, but will become home to new merchandise areas and dining. Innoventions West will, of course, be demolished for new green spaces and room for the Journey of Water attraction.

The long-rumored Brazil project seems to be stalled or possibly even cancelled. Sources on WDWMagic say they have even looked at changing to a different South American country. Either way, not much seems to be moving on this front, so we may have to continue waiting for another World Showcase pavilion.

Mary Poppins Attraction at Epcot

Finally with Epcot, the Mary Poppins attraction seems to still be in some flux. A few sources say there is some back and forth about just how much of an attraction this will be. Most seem to believe though that this will not be a major large dark ride, but something smaller. As of yet, no opening time frames are even rumored for this.

Hollywood Studios

AT D23 EXPO 2017, DISNEY PARKS CHAIRMAN BOB CHAPEK ANNOUNCES NEW DETAILS OF ATTRACTIONS PLANNED FOR STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE -- Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek shared new details and a glimpse inside the two attractions planed for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge coming to both Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif. and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Fla. in 2019.

All seems well for the most part at Hollywood Studios. Rise of the Resistance will open on time. We may see some struggles with its opening, whether it’s limited ride capacity or some downtime during the day. Disney is prepping for an opening event and has put out a casting call for a special event show including characters like Rey, Kylo Ren, and Vi Moradi.

Animal Kingdom

Disney still doesn’t seem to be happy with Rivers of Light even after the infusion of characters with Rivers of Light: We Are One. WDWMagic sources are reporting that we should see another rework or change coming in the not too distant future. The show has gotten mixed reviews since it debuted a few years ago. No word on what these changes could include just yet.

Primeval Whirl has reopened during select times in its now seasonal operation, but, according to reports, it is only one side of the attraction. Some reports also suggest that changes were made to the restraints for the ride vehicle.

Walt Disney World Resort

The Disney Skyliner opened, and soon after had an incident. This sent the fan community into a bit of an uproar or debate. The Disney Skyliner is a D-line model from gondola maker Doppelmayr. According to information, the incident was a mechanical malfunction and not human error. Adjustments have since been made to the system and it is running at normal operating hours.

WDWMagic sources are stating that we may be seeing new straws throughout the resort soon as guests haven’t been pleased with the current paper straws. No word on when the new version of the paper straws could show up.

Disney Cruise Line

According to Len Testa, the Disney Wish could see some new upscale experiences. This would include an increase of concierge level rooms from the Dream class ships. In addition to that, we could see a Beauty and the Beast themed upscale dining experience similar to Remy or Palo on the other ships.
