Have you felt yourself dreaming up new restaurant concepts for the Disney parks? With only a few signature restaurants in the parks, it got me thinking. Which lands could really use a more upscale, signature dining location? Here’s a list of three theme park lands where a new signature restaurant would make the most sense at Walt Disney World.
Tomorrowland
I’d love to see quite a few projects happen for both WDW and Disneyland’s Tomorrowlands, but that’s a rant for another time. However, a step in the right direction for many fans would be a new table-service restaurant in Magic Kingdom‘s Tomorrowland. The land is meant to represent innovation and advancement, I’d love to see an imaginative new menu à la Space 220, but maybe a more upscale 1960s space-age inspired cuisine and overall theme to appease the masses without competing with EPCOT‘s offering. Perhaps they could lean into the ever-evolving theme of progress, offering elevated dishes from each vicennial represented in Carousel of Progress.
I know fireworks parties are a big money maker for Disney, but the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant seems like a prime footprint for an all-new signature dining locale that could really elevate the theming of the Tomorrowland.
Main Street, U.S.A.
Ah, the rustle and bustle of Main Street, U.S.A. Wouldn’t it be great to dine along the second story of the Main Street windows, offering views of the famous street and Cinderella Castle? I’m picturing something like Walt’s American Restaurant in Disneyland Paris where the separate dining rooms are each highly themed to the park’s lands. To be honest, I’ve got a craving for a premium bowl of Walt’s favorite dish — chili. Maybe a side of buttered cornbread… surrounded by original Frontierland or Adventureland memorabilia. Is that too much to ask for?
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Last, but certainly not least, us Star Wars fans want, need, and deserve a signature dining experience within Batuu at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Please. We’ve seen what Disney can do with the Galactic Starcruiser when it comes to the cuisine and entertainment.
We heard Bob Chapek’s promises for the dining experience lined up for Galaxy’s Edge. We’ve seen the saber battle between Kylo Ren and Rey meant for a theme park show of some sort. And did you know Oga’s Cantina was originally supposed to be a pre-dinner cantina experience while you wait for your table? We love you R-3X, but you’ve been carrying the torch all on your own for a little too long now.
This is the perfect opportunity to breathe new life into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, offering more character interaction, a much-needed show element, and upscale galactic cuisine we’d all love to see (and taste!).
What do you think? Which Walt Disney World land would you choose to add a new signature dining experience?
