It’s time to set your clocks to Pooh time, as we look at another Walt Disney World snack. We’re back on the hunt for a little smackerel of something, this time at EPCOT!

With EPCOT essentially running year-long festivals, studded with rotating festival food kiosks just about everywhere, we can’t forget about those tried and true dining stops around World Showcase. Today, we’re stopping into Kringla Bakeri og Kafe in the Norway Pavilion.
There are a few pastries and specialty beverages offered here, but there’s one option that is fairly simple, yet one of the most delicious. While the coconut-topped, custard-filled School Bread is certainly nothing new when it comes to EPCOT cuisine, it deserves its own time in the spotlight today. In case you haven’t tried this iconic snack yet, and are a fan of coconut… you simply must get this on your next Disney World trip!
School Bread | $4.99
The lightly-sweetened cardamom bread roll is filled with creamy vanilla custard and topped with a sugar glaze, toasted coconut shavings, and another dollop of the custard. Despite all the sweet ingredients, it’s on the lighter side of EPCOT’s dessert offerings. You can stop for this in the morning, mid-day or pre-fireworks snack and won’t feel weighed down after. It’s also nice to split with a friend!
The recipe comes from a classic Norwegian snack Skolebrød or Skoleboller. Legend has it, the first was made by a woman in Oslo named Gerda Nielsen. Her son later popularized them in the 1940s when he began selling them to local schools.
You can’t beat the taste nor the price. School Bread is one of my favorite EPCOT sweet treats, earning an easy five out five on my rumbly in my tumbly scale!
Troll Horn | $4.99
After missing for some time, the famous Troll Horn pastry has returned to the Norway Pavilion! Only this time, it now has a chocolate filling!
The Troll Horn is a crunchy, flaky dough horn, filled with chocolate cream that has a whipped, pudding-like consistency. The chocolate portion is topped with coffee-chocolate crunch, and the entire pastry portion is topped with coarse sugar for an added crunch and sweetness. I found the dough to be a little dry for my liking, but the filling was decadent and fulfilled my sweet tooth.
I would recommend any chocolate lover to indulge in the Troll Horn, but I’ll always find my way back to the School Bread. I’ll give the Troll Horn a three out of five on the rumbly in my tumbly scale.
Frozen Viking Coffee | $16.50
Bailey’s Irish Cream Liqueur and Kamora Coffee Liqueur, with Coffee-Chocolate Sauce and garnished with Coffee-Chocolate Crunch
This creamy, dessert-like beverage combines the richness of coffee with a sweet, boozy twist – and it’s loaded with that crunchy coffee-chocolate topping we saw from the Troll Horn! There is a non-alcoholic version also available, called the the Kristoff Kaffe.
While this drink was served chilled, mine was definitely not frozen as the title says. I was expecting an ice-blended beverage on this hot Florida day, so it lost a point there for me. Maybe they gave me a melted one that was sitting out?
For $16.50, I’d say it’s worth a try on your “drink around the world” venturing, especially if you split the cost and calories with a friend, but I wouldn’t recommend this alongside the many pastry options from Kringla. It was overkill with my School Bread alone.
I’ll give this one a three out of five on the rumbly in my tumbly scale!
Until next time, be grateful for your plateful!
