Disney Debate: Do You Visit Disney in Matching Outfits?

Disney Debate: Do You Visit Disney in Matching Outfits? 5003057810074-2

We’ve been doing our Disney Debate thing for a while now, and I’ve been impressed at how well people are handling some of our topics. In a volatile world where some just want to pick a fight, it’s been fun to see people give in to the spirit of the discussion and think outside the box for a moment. I couldn’t help but think it might be time to try something a little more hard-hitting that can divide people faster than choosing between red or blue. I warn you, this week’s topic could get ugly. Things might be said that we can’t take back, and lines might be crossed, but I think we can make it through if we keep a certain level of respect for each other.

Do you wear matching outfits to Disney?

I’m going to tell you straight: some families out there can pull off the matchy-matchy thing like they were born for it. Perfectly crafted to look like a family Christmas card, every photo looks pristine. My family, on the other hand, looks like we all got dressed in the dark in someone else’s laundry and can’t work out where we slept last night.

When the kids were little, occasionally, I would have them in matching colors or similar styles when we visited the Disney theme parks. Now, although I do dabble in a bit of matching family wear around the holidays, we just can’t seem to pull it off the way others can. My husband and kids are tall, so everything seems to sit a little differently on each of us until we look like a walking PSA for not attempting the practice. Pajamas are my matching passion during the holidays; the styles and patterns are much more forgiving! I also love those little accents like ear headbands or accessories, the little things that say ‘we are together’ without having me regret my pre-vacation choices with every glance at our collective reflection.

Now it is your turn. Matching outfits for Disney – are they everything or a mistake? And no, similarly themed DisneyBounding (i.e., all going as a Toy Story character) doesn’t count. I’m talking about that really confronting, super matching style that either looks like a page out of a catalog or like the Addams Family were dragged to the Magic Kingdom and encouraged to blend in.

If you have photos of matching family success, I want to see them! Please add or tag them on our social media so I can see them. Do you go all out or just matching shirts? I want all the details.
