Magic Kingdom The Tomorrowland re-imagining rumors persist. @CarouselOf on Twitter is reporting that the Carousel of Progress will get a refurb, including an update to the last scene. They are also reporting 3 to 4 new attractions including a Tron related attraction, but possibly not the coaster from Shanghai, as well as new area lighting, and new background music. A report from posters on the WDWMagic forums says that the Enchanted Tiki Room at the Magic Kingdom will be going away. Now there are two possible options here, something completely new, or the Stitch overlay that Tokyo Disneyland has in their version. The Tiki Room at Disneyland would remain as is. It was confirmed that Splash Mountain will be going down for a three month refurbishment this fall, instead of its normal winter refurbishment. It was previously rumored that this is due to another Magic Kingdom attraction going down for a major refurbishment in winter 2018.
Epcot According to several sources on the wdwmagic.com forums, Ratatouille from Disneyland Paris is still coming to Epcot but the timeline has changed a bit. Ratatouille would open in Epcot by 2020 as the rumored Guardians of the Galaxy attraction got pushed back. The rumors also state that the current France theater would remain, but the film could change. As we now know, Mission: Space will be getting a major refurbishment this summer. With that update will come some upgrades to the attraction including the storyline and an overall update. This also comes from WDWMagic posters. Finally for Epcot, WDWMagic sources are indicating that the possible United Kingdom attraction could be themed to Mary Poppins. A Mary Poppins sequel is in production and could very well be a contributing factor to this attraction.
Hollywood Studios The Great Movie Ride could close as early as mid August to start the construction for the new Mickey Mouse themed attraction. This attraction would open in fall 2019 according to WDWMagic posters. According to a recent Bloomberg article, Star Wars Land will feature an exotic marketplace where you can buy items from all over the galaxy, the cantina in the land will be served by alien characters, and the First Order battle attraction will feature components from Star Wars Episode 8 and 9. WDWMagic posters have indicated that the Hollywood Studios version could open as early as May 2019. The Disneyland version would open even before that. A Guardians of the Galaxy meet and greet featuring Starlord and Baby Groot could be on the way to Hollywood Studios in the place where Moana used to meet, inside One Man's Dream. There was a casting call a few months back asking for a Starlord character. WDWMagic posters say the meet and greet could be open by May 5th, 2017. Lastly, a casting call was put out for a Rey lookalike. This character could be used for various things from the Star Wars stage show or special appearances. We will have to wait and see where Rey ends up appearing.
Walt Disney World Resort (Photo credit: WDWMagic.com) The Orlando Sentinel has confirmed with the Reedy Creek Improvement District that Disney is building a Gondola system that will service Hollywood Studios, Pop Century, Art of Animation, Epcot, and Caribbean Beach. Each gondola car will hold up to 10 people. Construction would be complete in 2019, according to permits filed for the project. Club 33 at Walt Disney World is happening, according to a recent email account set up by the Disney Company. A club venue would be set up at each Walt Disney World theme park. Right now, possible locations for these new Club 33's would be the American Adventure, Dinoland, and Adventureland. Both WDWMagic posters and WDWNT have reported that Disney is interested in building a boutique Star Wars resort. WDWNT posted that Disney has gone as far as sending out surveys asking guests if they would be interested in a luxury Star Wars experience at a new resort. WDWNT is reporting that Walt Disney World will soon be starting their own Uber-like transportation service. This service would be Disney run with Disney-hired drivers. The service would offer point to point transportation with drivers being able to provide information about the Walt Disney World resort. Finally, Len Testa on the Unofficial Disney Dish Podcast said that Disney is looking to build a suite-only tower where current convention space is, at the Contemporary Resort. It has been rumored for some time that convention space at the Contemporary would be going away. Come and discuss all of these rumors and more on the Disboards Rumors and News board!
