In the early days of Disneyland and Magic Kingdom, the parks were designed to be dry spaces, free of alcohol, where everything was suited to the family experience. Subsequent parks may have opened with access to alcohol available for guests, though it took a long time for them to become available in the original two locations. Because of this, many long-time visitors of Disneyland, in particular, don’t view the parks as the right setting for them to indulge in an adult beverage. Disneyland and Magic Kingdom now offer alcoholic beverages in select table service restaurants.
I’m curious to hear from our DIS community and see how many of you enjoy a special drink while in the parks. I tend to refrain from this for multiple reasons, one of which is simply the cost. I’m a keen fan of having a stable budget, and adding just a few alcoholic beverages here and there can blow it out very quickly. The other reason I prefer not to drink is because I get sleepy, and to keep up with my two teenagers, I need all the energy I can get! Though it’s not for me, I can see how guests with more time to spend, or perhaps who live closer, can enjoy that extra indulgence while visiting. I do enjoy a cocktail or two in Disney Springs and the Downtown Disney District when the day is done, and I know I can relax.
Let me know your thoughts; which parks do you drink in when visiting Disney?
