Five Ways to Spread Holiday Cheer in the Disney Parks

It is the happiest time of the year, and the Disney Parks are absolutely buzzing with families hoping to soak up every ounce of that festive magic. From twinkling lights and seasonal music to special treats and holiday overlays, there is so much to love about visiting this week. That said, the holidays also bring big crowds and plenty of stress, which can make even the most magical place feel overwhelming at times. With a little bit of contagious cheer, though, you can be part of the solution rather than adding to the problem. If you are visiting the parks this week, here are five simple ways to spread holiday love without doing anything extravagant.

Thank a Cast Member
Saying please and thank you is a great start, but this goes one step further. Make a point to truly thank a cast member and let them know how their assistance, attitude, or kindness made your day easier or brighter. I am always struck by how deeply heartfelt compliments resonate, especially during the holidays when cast members are spending their own festive season creating magic for the rest of us. If you have a moment, follow it up with a cast member compliment in the My Disney Experience app so that appreciation reaches the people who need to hear it most.

Pay a stranger a compliment
This is something I try to do as often as possible in the parks. Maybe you love someone’s holiday outfit or festive ears, or perhaps a child’s carefree dancing made you smile while waiting in line. Take a moment to share that compliment out loud. It helps shift the focus away from the negatives and creates a ripple effect of positivity that can travel far beyond that brief interaction. Complimenting kids can be especially meaningful, as the parks can feel overwhelming for little ones during busy seasons.

Smile
Yes, it can be stressful. Everyone wants smooth transportation, short waits, and seamless transitions. In the middle of that hustle, it is easy to walk around looking frustrated and closed off. Make the effort to smile when you make eye contact with someone. It is simple, free, and surprisingly powerful. Even if one person does not smile back, try again with the next. Those small moments of connection can genuinely change the overall mood around you.

Offer to take family photos
Disney PhotoPass Photographers are wonderful, but during peak holiday crowds, they cannot be everywhere at once. If you see a family struggling with an awkward selfie or trying to fit everyone into the frame, offer to take the photo for them. Many people are hesitant to ask for help, so offering before it becomes a problem can be incredibly appreciated. You might just help create someone’s favorite holiday memory.

Let younger kids stand in front
No matter how long you have been waiting for a holiday parade or fireworks, if you notice little ones behind you, consider offering to let them stand in front. They usually will not block your view, and it can mean the world to them. If you have your own children with you, this small act also sets a wonderful example of generosity and kindness. Parents are often deeply grateful when their child gets an unexpected, unobstructed view of something special, like a Disney holiday parade.

At the end of the day, holiday magic at Disney is not just about decorations or entertainment. It is about the way we treat each other in shared spaces. A little patience, a few kind words, and a willingness to look out for those around you can go a long way. When we all choose to lead with kindness, the parks feel a little brighter, the crowds feel a little lighter, and the holiday spirit becomes something we create together.
