Three Ways to Beat the Heat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The most brutal part of summer has finally arrived at Walt Disney World. The temperatures have been rising, and so has the humidity making Disney feel less magical. This is why I want to share three ways to beat the heat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios because there are not many places to escape, but I did find a handful of areas on my last trip to the park.

Indoor Attractions

This is the most obvious way to beat the heat. There are several fun indoor attractions that the entire family can enjoy. These are also great for when it’s storming outside, which happens often here during the summer.

I decided to hop on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway on this visit. The queue is indoors for the most part, and the air conditioning is always on blast in there. I enjoy this attraction on a hot day because it’s not a short ride, and on most days, you get to be inside for at least 45 minutes.

Toy Story Mania!, Star Tours, and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run are other attractions perfect for escaping the heat. If you are a thrill seeker, I suggest going over to Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Those attractions have covered and indoor queues, and the ride itself is inside, away from the sun.

Find Relaxing Indoor Spaces

There aren’t many relaxing indoor spaces, but there are a few. These spaces are my go-to spots when I can’t handle the heat anymore. Many of these areas are quiet and have seating areas, which is a perfect way to cool down and regroup.

Here are the three spots that I love venturing to when I need a break.

I absolutely love these spots. On my last visit, I spent about 30 minutes at the exit of Vacation Fun. There are benches and outlets for anyone needing to charge their phones. This spot also has fun photo opportunities that relate to the original animated short Vacation Fun.

When I visited on May the Fourth, I spent an hour in Star Wars Launch Bay. Not only is the air conditioning perfect in there, but it’s also dark and has plenty of seating areas. There’s also so much to do here, like meeting characters and looking at movie memorabilia.

Watch Indoor Shows

There are a handful of shows to watch at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and most are fantastic. A few shows are indoors, making for a perfect midday break, either before or after lunch. This time I decided to watch a few indoor shows. The first one I experienced was something I had never done before, Vacation Fun. This is an original animated short starring Mickey and Minnie. The film has almost no wait and the show last for 10 minutes. It was the perfect way to cool off and return to the park.

The next show I saw after exploring the park was For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. I adore this show. I don’t see it often because I normally wait for the summer months to enjoy this frozen adventure. This show is about 30 minutes long, so it’s a very nice break. If you are traveling with anyone who isn’t a Frozen fan, this is the best spot for them to nap.

The other show I love that is technically an attraction is Muppet*Vision 3D. The queue is never long, and it’s all indoors. The show, in my opinion, is hilarious. This is an eye-popping film where the Muppets put on a wonderful live-action extravaganza. I recently brought a friend here who had never seen the show, and she loved it and thought it was a great way to cool off.

You can’t go wrong with any of these indoor shows. They are fun and innovative, especially the sing-along.

Well, folks, that’s my list of how to beat the heat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This is your reminder that taking breaks is very important and will help make your day more enjoyable. Also, be sure to drink a lot of water, eat snacks, and constantly apply sunscreen. If you have any other tips and tricks to avoid the heat at the parks, leave them in the comment section.
