Disney Legend Bob Gurr Says Disney Is Working on a Contract for New Monorail Cars

On April 28, Celebration Town Hall hosted ‘Working with Walt Disney: An Evening with Disney Legend Bob Gurr.’ The event featured an open panel discussion with Bob Gurr. Gurr was the Imagineer tasked by Walt Disney in the 1950s to create Disneyland’s Monorail System and several other iconic Disney Parks attractions like Autopia and the Matterhorn Bobsleds.

Last night Gurr addressed the rumors and speculation that Disney would be purchasing new monorail cars for Walt Disney World. Gurr no longer works for The Walt Disney Company so his intel is not an official confirmation. That being said, Gurr believes the contract for the new monorails is already underway. Gurr also said, “You will see (new monorails). If everything works right, it will be the same company, Bombardier.”

Bombardier constructed the current Mark VI monorail fleet in 1989.
