Canada Bans Cruise Ships Until July, Disney Cruise Line Sailings to Alaska and Hawaii at Risk

Canada has announced new rules that are being put in place to limit the spread of COVID-19, including a ban on cruise ships like the Disney Wonder, which spends its summers sailing to Alaska out of Vancouver, British Columbia.

Federal ministers and health officials, announced the rules at a press conference this morning.

  • Boats and cruise ships that carry more that 500 people will be banned from Canadian ports until July.
  • International flights will be only be permitted at a small number of yet-to-be-determined airports.
  • International travelers from all countries will be asked to self-isolate.

The Disney Wonder is currently on a Westbound Panama Canal sailing set to arrive in San Diego on March 20th. Disney Cruise Line has cancelled any additional sailings through the end of April, when it is expected to continue with several cruises to Baja Mexico and the Mexican Riviera.

On April 24th, the Wonder is scheduled to sail to Vancouver for two Hawaiian sailings and a full season of Alaskan sailings that are set to continue through September.
