Construction Photos From Disney’s Wilderness Lodge & New Lakeshore Lodge

Two of Walt Disney World’s resort lodges are currently in the midst of construction—one is welcoming guests throughout the process, while the other has yet to open its doors! Let’s take a look at the progress on the brand-new DVC Lakeshore Lodge and check in on the ongoing refurbishment at the beloved Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

Wilderness Lodge Construction

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has been undergoing exterior construction since August of 2024 and while it’s being completed in small sections, it’s still visible from most of the resort. This refurbishment will not change the look of the Wilderness Lodge buildings but is a regularly scheduled refurbishment. Thankfully, construction is only being completed during daylight hours and has generally been pretty quiet. Just something to keep in mind when staying at the Lodge through the rest of 2025.

Currently, the biggest construction obstacle is the closure of the outdoor seating for the Quick-Service dining location, Roaring Fork. This also means a slightly obstructed walkway from the boat dock and pool area to the main lobby.

Thankfully, the construction has minimal effects on the view from Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White. Storybook Dining is a pre-fixe, Table Service character dinner located on the second floor of the Wilderness Lodge. Be sure to check out our full review of this special Snow White dinner experience!

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Construction

Across Bay Lake from the Wilderness Lodge, visible progress is being made on the newest Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort, Lakeshore Lodge. Lakeshore Lodge sits where the River Country water park once stood from 1976 until 2001. The DVC resort was first announced back in 2018 under the name Reflections: A Lakeside Lodge but changed names to Lakeshore Lodge earlier in 2025. Lakeshore Lodge is expected to open in 2027.

Lakeshore Lodge is being designed by the same Walt Disney Imagineering leadership that brought us Disney’s Riviera Resort and the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. We expect Lakeshore to have a similar design concept.

Without a doubt, the coolest part of Lakeshore Lodge is the A-frame cabins that will have stunning water and obstructed Magic Kingdom fireworks views. These will likely be Deluxe Villas much like the Cabins at Copper Creek and the Bungalows at the Polynesian.

It’s also important to note that Lakeshore Lodge backs right up to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, altering the view from Pioneer Hall and Tri-Circle D Ranch. With the addition of Disney Vacation Club to Fort Wilderness, it almost makes sense there would be more dining options nearby. We don’t expect these two resorts to share amenities, and it seems a lot of Fort Wilderness fans are generally not happy about the towering Lakeshore Lodge.

Let us know what you think about these construction updates and if it changes your plans to stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness!
