A month into the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, we have a new merchandise collection themed to The Orange Bird! These vintage-inspired pieces feature the original look of The Orange Bird from his debut in 1971. Most of the merchandise features a small, subtle Flower & Garden Festival Logo. You can find this entire collection inside the Creations Shop at EPCOT.
The Orange Bird was originally the mascot of the Florida Citrus Commission in a partnership with Walt Disney World. The Florida Citrus Commission sponsored the Tropical Serenade, now Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, when Magic Kingdom first opened. Guests could find The Orange Bird character walking around and posing for photos in Adventureland until 1986 when Disney’s partnership with the Florida Citrus Commission ended. It wasn’t until 2012, that The Orange Bird reappeared in the Sunshine Tree Terrace sign art and other art and merchandise. He’s now synonymous with Walt Disney World, the Flower & Garden Festival, and the citrus swirl at the Magic Kingdom.
You can enjoy the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival now through June 1st! The Flower & Garden Festival is the most beautiful time of year at EPCOT with character topiaries and gardens found throughout the park, concert series included in your theme park admission, and outdoor kitchens with unique menu items made with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
