Disney Springs Resort Transportation Verification Is Here to Stay – Here’s What You Need to Know

After recent rumors, Walt Disney World is making its Disney Springs transportation verification process permanent, and it’s expanding beyond buses.

Cast Members at Disney Springs have confirmed that resort verification will return on June 28, ahead of the July 4th holiday week, and will remain in place indefinitely going forward. Notably, the policy will now apply to watercraft departing Disney Springs in addition to the resort bus loop.

The Sassagoula River Boats serving Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa (including the Treehouse Villas) will all require verification before guests can board.

To pass the checkpoint at the bus station and boat docks, guests must present one of the following:

  • An active Walt Disney World resort hotel reservation
  • A confirmed dining reservation at a Disney resort hotel
  • A confirmed resort recreation booking, such as a specialty boat cruise

The policy builds on test runs conducted around the New Year and during the Easter holiday period, when Cast Members stationed at the Disney Springs bus loop scanned MagicBands and tickets before allowing guests to board. Disney considered those trials successful, citing improved capacity for guests who are actually staying on property.

The verification process also directly addresses a well-known workaround: guests who park for free at Disney Springs and use resort buses to reach the theme parks, effectively bypassing the standard parking fee.

For now, these checks are specific to Disney Springs. However, Disney is reportedly exploring whether similar verification could be expanded to other transit points across Disney World in the future, though no specifics have been announced.

What do you think about Disney making this verification permanent? Is this a reasonable move to free up capacity for resort guests, or does it add unnecessary friction to a Disney Springs visit? And if Disney does expand scanning to other transportation hubs across the resort, how would that change the way you plan your trip?
