The Disney Parks Blog is continuing their look at new Disney Cruise Line ports with a visit to Fredericia, Denmark. The Disney Magic will make its first stop there in 2019 during a special 10-night cruise to Northern Europe.
In addition to being near the birthplace of one of the best known fairy tale authors, the port town features charming streets, beautiful churches, and access to other areas of Denmark where guests can explore Viking history.
The city of Fredericia offers some of the best-preserved ramparts in Northern Europe that guests will want to get a closer look at. Guests can also climb to the top of White Water Tower for an amazing view of the surrounding area or visit the Fredericia Town Museum’s exhibits and gardens for a look at the city’s past.
For some outdoor fun, guests can head to Østerstrand for a game of beach volleyball or just to soak up the sun. The whole family might enjoy a picnic at Madsby Legepark with its playgrounds and summertime puppet shows.
From Fredericia, guests can also pay a visit to other historical sites within Denmark.
The Jelling monuments are a set of standing stones and burial mounds that mark the site of where Viking King Harald Bluetooth christened Denmark over 1,000 years ago. A museum nearby shares the legacy of the Vikings.
Odense is the birthplace of Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, whose stories inspired The Little Mermaid and Frozen. The city is on the island of Funen, and features museums and activity centers that tell the history behind the fairy tales.
Guests can visit Fredericia and the surrounding area on a 10-night Northern European cruise that leaves from Copenhagen, Denmark on August 8, 2019. During the sailing, guests will also visit Tallin, Estonia; St. Petersburg, Russia; Helsinki, Finland; and Stockholm, Sweden. The cruise ends in Dover, England.
