Rains in Tortola Force Another Itinerary Change for Disney Fantasy

Last week, the Disney Fantasy missed its stop in Cozumel due to risks posed by Hurricane Franklin, and now this week the ship will substitute a stop in St. Maarten for its scheduled visit to Tortola.

Heavy and sometimes destructive rains in Tortola have damaged roads that are used to get passengers pack and forth to various excursions.

The Honorable D. Orlando Smith, British Virgin Islands’ Premier and Minister of Finance, said in a statement, “The Government of the Virgin Island after careful consideration and consultation with the Recovery Advisory Group and industry stakeholders determined that the two cruise ship calls scheduled for August 15 and 16 would not take place.”

During last week’s Western Caribbean itinerary, the Fantasy substituted a day at sea for its stop in Cozumel, but for this week’s Eastern Caribbean voyage, the ship will be able to replace Tortola with a stop in St. Maarten.

Cleanup is expected to be complete in time for the Fantasy’s next visit to Tortola on August 30th.
