If you’re a dinosaur enthusiast like me, you’re probably also feeling sad about saying goodbye to the Animal Kingdom land dedicated to our giants of the past. There’s still time to enjoy all the bone-diggin’, fossil findin’, and time travelin’… and maybe some exclusive merch to pick up! While Disney hasn’t announced an exact date before DinoLand’s phased closures take place for the new Tropical Americas to move in, we know we have limited time left with DINOSAUR, and even less with Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama.
If you plan to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom any time soon, be sure to stop into Dino-Rama to play some mid-way style carnival games and win exclusive DinoLand-branded prizes. The mid-way games of skill and chance are made for anyone of any age to play. These are a variety of classic carnival games like Basketball Shooting, Ball Toss, and Water Squirt Guns, among others. Current prizes include various small, medium, and large plushies of Mickey and Minnie Mouse in Dino Institute-branded shirts, a Triceratops from Triceratops Spin, an Iguanodon from DINOSAUR with a Dino Institute logo, and DinoLand’s very own Cementosaurus with a Dino-Rama logo.
Each game costs 1 credit per round, and game credit vouchers are $6 each. Some strategy games only require two people to compete for a small prize, while some require 5-10 people to compete for a larger prize. Your best bet is to play as a family or friend group so someone in your party gets to win and pick a prize! There is one game of chance that only requires one person to play. Lately, Dino-Rama is pretty quiet in the later afternoon/early evening, so it’s easier to plan “solo” games with no other guests competing.
My friend and I purchased 6 tickets together ($36 total), and ultimately ended up lucking out at the chance ball-throwing game. We redeemed 4 out of 6 tickets, winning a small Minnie Mouse prize and a medium Cementosaurus prize, and kept the remaining 2 tickets as a paper souvenir to remember DinoLand.
Don’t forget to soak up the last bit of this (cheesy) dinosaur carnival theming, complete with fun house mirrors and one of few photo booths on property — a true relic.
Gotta blast!
