Tackling this amazing ice cream monster is quite a challenge, and isn’t for everyone. Again diabetics stay away. Disney recommends splitting it between 4 or 5 people. The first time I tried it was with my husband. We are two ice cream super fans and thought we could do it. We just thought we could walk in there and tackle the beast. We were deliciously mistaken.

Are you up for the ice cream adventure on your own or with one partner? Are you an ice cream maniac? If you are, I like your style and courage. You aren’t afraid of calories, sugar or hours of a sick tummy afterward.

If you are taking on the solo quest to the bottom of the metal sink, here are tips to help you complete it. Some things you can do before and during the ice cream mountain.

1. Do your research online

Since you have already found this article, good job on completing point number one. I knew you were serious about this. Check out ideas online and watch other guests attempt it on Youtube. There are so many videos on the topic. You will not be alone in this journey. A solo attempt is on numerous guests bucket lists. Watch what they did right and wrong. Learn from their actions. This will ensure you don’t make the same errors they did.

2. Control your breathing

At the beginning, there is the urge to eat as quickly as you can but people will forget to breathe. If you lose the rhythm of your breath it can get your heart rate up. Unless you take a moment to relax and breathe you could feel sick very quickly. That will make it practically impossible to finish. This delicious and amazing dessert with turn into a chore. Ice cream should never be a chore.

3. Wear comfy clothes

Ever have a meal where you ate too much, and had your clothes feel too tight? That feeling where you have to lean back, unbutton your pants and try to make more room in your bloated stomach. When you challenge the Kitchen Sink you can’t start undressing in the restaurant or Disney will quickly kick you out. To avoid this, make sure to wear comfortable clothing. I’m not saying you have to show up wearing pajamas but the more comfortable you are the longer you will be able to eat.

On a side note, if you have some amazing Disney pajamas, I say go ahead and show them off. Proudly rock them.

4. Don’t skip meals

Many guests think they shouldn’t eat before the challenge to leave more room in their stomach. This is an incorrect strategy. You don’t want to eat a huge buffet before but you need to eat a little to get your energy up. Eating all that ice cream if you are tired, or have a headache, won’t be any fun at all. Fun is the goal after all. Otherwise, you will be just gaining five pounds for nothing. Ok, ten pounds.

5. Choose your liquids wisely

It’s common sense to not drink a ton of liquids while trying to tackle the sink, but you do need a little for lubrication. It will help get the ice cream down. Choose something like water instead of soda. The carbonation will make you feel full and make you burp. This can make you feel uneasy. Warm water is the best choice with the cold ice cream.

6. Control the ice cream

Everyone has had the experience of eating ice cream quickly and achieved the dreaded Brain Freeze. That terribly awful feeling that you know won’t last long but hurts like crazy when it’s happening. You feel like your eyeballs are trying to escape your head.

Professional ice cream eaters (yup, that’s an actual thing) recommend never letting the ice cream hit the roof of your mouth. Or, twist the spoon the moment it hits your mouth so the ice cream lands on your tongue and let the spoon touch the roof of your mouth.

7. Save it for last

With all the toppings it’s best to save the cake, candy bar, brownies, and solid items for later in the challenge. The reason for this is because eating too much of anything thing will make you sick of it. The best plan is to eat a good amount of the ice cream and when you feel like you can’t anymore, switch to the cake or the brownie. Keep the variety going and you won’t get as sick of an item as quickly.

So go out their champ and tackle the mighty ice cream beast. I know you can do it. Or grab a group of friends, some spoons and dive in for a super fun sugar experience.
