4 Excellent Spots for Your Baby or Toddler To Nap at Disney World

4 Excellent Spots for Your Baby or Toddler To Nap at Disney World Cinderella-Castle-03

As a parent who took the leap and brought their young children (starting at 22 months for my oldest and 14 months for my youngest) to Walt Disney World for a week-long adventure, I know firsthand how important naps are to a peaceful and enjoyable trip. Finding an area of quiet and calm can be challenging in the parks because of the crowds, noise, and even smells. That being said, there are spots throughout the parks for your child to rest without heading back to your hotel room.

Let’s get two things out of the way before we explore the spots. First, each Walt Disney World park has a Baby Care Center perfectly suited to getting a little air-conditioned rest for you and your little one. The spots listed here are in addition to these amazing resources. Secondly, the nap scenarios we are assuming you will be in will involve a stroller for your little one to doze off in.

Here are spots at each of the Walt Disney World parks for your baby or toddler to rest and recharge.

Magic Kingdom: Storybook Circus Outside of Pete’s Silly Sideshow

Simply because the Magic Kingdom is the busiest theme park in the world doesn’t mean you can’t find a little quiet for you and your child. Inside the Storybook Circus area of Magic Kingdom is a surprising spot that can be calm and shady. Right outside of Pete’s Silly Sideshow is a little park area with trees, benches, and even umbrellas if you are lucky. You’re just far enough away from the Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station that the noise isn’t too bad.

In the northeast part of Magic Kingdom, you’ll find Pete’s Silly Sideshow and a spot to rest.

There are three additional considerations to think about with this spot. First, the not-so-awesome, you are close to the Fantasyland Railroad Station which can be a little noisy. On the positive side, you are very close to a restroom near the Railroad Station. And, lastly, you are very close to Big Top Souvenirs. This is great to let your little one continue sleeping in the stroller while enjoying a dose of air conditioning. It’s a pretty unique part of the park that often gets overlooked.

EPCOT: World Showcase Between Morocco and Japan

EPCOT is massive. There is no doubt that you will find numerous locations for you and your child to take a rest. The challenge remains, however, to stay in the mix of everything while still finding a spot for your yawning toddler. It’s tough to stay in the Disney mood stuck in a room somewhat isolated from the hubbub.

Just off the main walkway is a shaded and quiet area.

It can be easy to miss this tucked away walkway between Morocco and Japan.

Look no further than a tucked-away stretch of benches between the Morocco and Japan pavilions. This little area is towards the back of the World Showcase and far from the packed crowds that Mexico and France enjoy. You’re also just off the main walkway and, depending on the time of day, you can get some great shade. Obviously, it’s far from the front of the park. If you plan things well you can get your little one dozing off in their stroller before you get to the back of the World Showcase.

Hollywood Studios: Commissary Lane Near BaseLine Tap House

Hollywood Studios creates some challenges when finding a nap spot. For example, quiet spots like the walkway between Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land lack decent seating. They’re also exposed to the pounding Central Florida sun. That’s why the suggested Hollywood Studios spot isn’t the quietest, but offers other benefits.

Don’t let the potential for a little noise detract you from seeking out this little area of shade for you and your baby.

On the way towards the southern part of the park, just around the corner from Star Tours is ABC Commissary Lane. You will see BaseLine Tap House nearby and a shaded walkway where the ABC Commissary and the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant are located. Because it is a narrower walkway, the crowds can get a little bigger here. At the same time, it is quieter than many parts of the park, and is home to benches, and a lot of cool shade. Plus, BaseLine Tap House is right there in case you get a little thirsty during naptime. Just sayin’.

Alternative: Just as you exit the Tower of Terror is a fairly shaded area with a Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea location that has a lovely pergola. You will also see some benches built into the facade behind Joffrey’s. Have a seat, maybe a coffee, and let your little one drift off. Sure, you’ll hear people scream from the Tower of Terror every now and then, but if your little one is already asleep, they likely won’t be woken up.

Animal Kingdom: Between Asia and DinoLand U.S.A.

Animal Kingdom has a lot of twists and turns, offering a number of locations for a quiet break. It’s also not known to be the most populated park at Walt Disney World. This sets up a lot of options. One place with several location options for naptime is the area stretching between Asia and DinoLand U.S.A.

You have several options in a small section of Animal Kingdom.

For example, in front of the Discovery River are two large amphitheater locations. They are fairly shaded in spots and are not used often throughout the day. It is important to note that this area does attract some crowds with Expedition Everest right out front of them. To the south of Expedition Everest, you will also find calmer areas near the restrooms outside of the Finding Nemo attraction. There is some decent shade and restrooms right there in case you have to go. The main downside of this area to note is that there are not a lot of refreshment locations.

Alternative: The Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail is typically quiet and nice for a stroller-induced nap. My wife swears by this area.

No matter where you travel around the parks with your baby or toddler in search of a nap location, you can’t go wrong with having an umbrella, a small rechargeable fan, and maybe even some white noise. These will set you up for an easy naptime experience. In the end, enjoy the break.

If you have any additional nap spots, I’d love to hear about them!
