Guests celebrating Independence Day at Walt Disney World received an unforgettable surprise on Friday as military aircraft flew over Magic Kingdom and EPCOT in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.
The special flyover featured an HC-130 Combat King II aircraft accompanied by two HH-60 helicopters from the 920th Rescue Wing, which departed from Patrick Space Force Base on Florida’s Space Coast before making their way over to two of Walt Disney World’s theme parks.

The dramatic presentation created some incredible photo opportunities as the aircraft passed directly over Cinderella Castle and Spaceship Earth. One official photo captures the aircraft soaring above Cinderella Castle, while another shows the flyover passing over the Partners statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse.

Over at EPCOT, the formation flew over Spaceship Earth and the park’s special “Walt Disney World 250 Celebrates America” display installed near the entrance. Disney also shared photos of Minnie and Mickey Mouse posing with members of the 920th Rescue Wing, recognizing the service members who participated in the event.

The 920th Rescue Wing is the U.S. Air Force Reserve’s only dedicated combat search-and-rescue wing. Its crews are trained to locate and recover isolated personnel in some of the world’s most challenging environments, making the Independence Day appearance both a celebration and a tribute to the men and women who serve.
The flyovers were part of Walt Disney World’s celebration of America’s 250th birthday, adding another memorable moment to a holiday that already includes patriotic entertainment, themed merchandise, special food offerings, and the return of Disney’s spectacular Fourth of July fireworks.
Whether guests caught the aircraft from Main Street, U.S.A., in front of Cinderella Castle, or while exploring EPCOT, the flyover served as a fitting salute to the nation’s semiquincentennial. Judging by the crowds looking skyward and cameras snapping throughout both parks, it was one of the most memorable moments of the holiday celebration.
