The National Weather Service in Melbourne, FL has issued a Red Flag Warning for Monday, March 17th, from 12 noon to 8pm for Orange County, including Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando.
- The affected Florida counties include Volusia, Lake, Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Brevard, Okeechobee, Indian River, Saint Lucie, and Martin.
- Outdoor burning is discouraged throughout the regions during the Red Flag Warning, including campfires at resort hotels and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
Weather Conditions
WIND: West to Northwest 15-20 mph, with gusts up to 25-30 mph.
HUMIDITY: Dropping to 25-35%, creating dry conditions for wildfire risk.
FIRE RISK: Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
According to the Florida Department of Agriculture’s Fire Weather Map, the current fire danger for Florida is low to moderate. However, if a fire did break out, the National Weather Service warns that it would rapidly spread under these drier and gusty conditions.
Otherwise, weather forecasters say to expect the rest of this week at Orlando’s theme parks to be bright, warm, and sunny (aside from a chance of rain on Thursday).
