Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is unique in that it is the only one of Disney's moderate category resorts to feature a convention center. For some, the convention atmosphere is a turn-off. For others, the resort feels more upscale than a typical moderate resort, especially with the addition of Gran Destino Tower.
The resort includes guest rooms and suites in lakeside Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas villages, plus rooms and suites in Gran Destino Tower. These areas surround Lago Dorado, a 22-acre man-made lake. The resort features rustic stucco buildings, Mexican-style bungalows, Spanish-inspired details, and American Southwest design touches.
Three lodging districts adjacent to Gran Destino Tower are inspired by Mexico and the American Southwest:
El Centro is home to Panchito's Gifts and Sundries, Cafe Rix, Rix Sports Bar & Grill, El Mercado de Coronado, and Maya Grill.
The buildings are set among colorful plazas, fountains, and courtyards. The Ranchos have a more rustic look, complete with an arroyo-style stream. The Cabanas are two-story Mexican-style adobe bungalows, and many rooms in this area have water views. The convention center offers extensive meeting and event space, making this resort a frequent choice for conferences and large groups.
The 16-story Gran Destino Tower is the main entrance for guests visiting the resort. This addition brought new guest rooms and suites to the resort, along with a grand two-story lobby. Gran Destino Tower opened on July 9, 2019.
